On Monday, 11th March 2025, Team Northern Ireland proudly participated in the Commonwealth Day celebrations alongside fellow athletes from across the Home Nations.

Representing Team NI at the prestigious Commonwealth Day Service at Westminster Abbey, were Birmingham 2022 athletes Alice Sharpe (Cyclist) and Nathan McCabe (3×3 Wheelchair Basketball player). The event, hosted by the Commonwealth Sport (CGF), brought together sporting representatives and dignitaries to mark the shared values and connections of the Commonwealth family. Following the service, the athletes joined guests at Buckingham Palace for the official launch of the King’s Baton Relay—an iconic tradition that signals the countdown to the next Commonwealth Games – Glasgow 2026!

Meanwhile, Birmingham 2022 cyclist Matthew Teggart and members of Commonwealth Games Northern Ireland (CGNI) attended a local celebration hosted by ABC Council.

Team NI is proud to continue representing Northern Ireland on the Commonwealth stage, celebrating unity, sport, and cultural connection across nations.
