On Friday the 17th of May, we teamed up with PwC for their ‘One Firm, One Day’ initiative, delivering a morning filled with multi-sport activities to pupils from Fane Street Primary School and St Paul’s Primary School in Belfast.
These two schools, which already collaborate through a shared education program, had the opportunity to come together once more for a day of fun and camaraderie. Conal Heatley, Chief Executive at Commonwealth Games Northern Ireland, highlighted the significance of the event, saying,
“Our team logo at Commonwealth Games Northern Ireland is ‘one community, one team,’ and this event is just an extension of that. Children from very diverse backgrounds can come together and simply enjoy sport,”
The Olympia Leisure Centre buzzed with excitement as pupils explored a variety of sports, including basketball, bowls, boxing, fencing, and football. It was a lively and engaging atmosphere where every child had the chance to try something new.

Brendon Finnegan, a teacher from St Paul’s Primary School, shared his thoughts on the day, stating,
“Not all of the children are able to engage in these sports on a regular basis. So, it’s fantastic that this event has been put on for us today.”
The success of the day was made possible thanks to the dedicated volunteers from PwC and skilled coaches from Basketball NI, the Irish Bowls Federation, Ulster Boxing, GLL who provided Fencing coaches, and the Irish Football Association. Their support and enthusiasm ensured that every pupil had an unforgettable experience.
Together, we created a day of unity, sportsmanship, and joy, embodying the spirit of ‘One Firm, One Day’ and showing the powerful impact of community collaboration.
